After being fed up with buying overpriced jackets that are made on a budget on the other side of the world I was determined to find something that was made locally by people that care about their craft, which is how I found out about Micklagård.
This jacket is fantastic. As others have mentioned the wadmal fabric is super dense while still being soft and non-itchy. I've only had it for a week, but it has kept me warm at -20c and dry in heavy snow and rain. Wool is awesome.
The construction is top notch and it has all the features you'd want while keeping it fairly simple. A spacious hood that you can hide in and can easily adjust and a front pocket big enough to store your snacks and a few fire starters. I especially like the wool pile lined pockets, no need for gloves!
Because its 100% wool it also means that it's quite heavy and it being an anorak means you look a bit funny while struggling to take it off in a busy cafe.
The only real downside so far is that my jacket smelled quite a bit when I got it, like wool that has been in the closet for a few decades (which I read was actually the case here). Luckily there are a few tricks to fix this.
Thanks to everyone at Micklagård for creating this great piece! (193cm and 85kg, size M)
