I received my Kebne jacket today and my observations are as follows.
The front fastening zip could be bigger, I have some slight problems with the zip being small and I would imagine using gloves would be almost impossible, A YKK would be better.
The front fastening press studs (poppers) two more would suit me better so I may use the jacket without needing the zip.
The Garment is heavy, but in a good way, it suggests Quality of materials and craftsmanship, I don't think I will use the hood but it's there if needed.
This whole jacket oozes Quality, I have had many jackets and being an EX-military man I know what will work and what won't, I have not worn it in anger yet as it is summer right now and wearing it would be a death sentence, it is that warm.
I know that I am going to be the envy of my village from those with all their fashion brands but those who know, know.
I am over the moon with my New jacket and know whole heartedly that I could not have bought a better winter/outdoor coat.
At any price, it will outlive me.
Thank you Micklagard.
👌
I bought this jacket because I always get cold during Winter in the mid-Atlantic. The fit and finish are excellent and I highly recommend you consider purchasing your next jacket from Micklagård.
After a record cold winter here in Fairbanks, AK I can't believe I'm gonna say this. I need it cold again. The jacket got to me just as we are relieved by above freezing temperatures(32°F). I will have to wait till next season to give it a thorough run through to use it to it's full potential. The fit is perfect at an XL for a 5'9" 215lbs. American. Room for layering with a Heimat (look'em up) sweater. So much form and function in the design of the garment you'll forget you're actually supposed to use it for stuff. Pockets are great and a good amount. Zipper is on the opposite side of what Americans are used to so understand that. The hood is large enough for layers too. Did I mention you're gonna have to wait for your order? Price, huh price. Well, it's not inexpensive or cheap(there is difference). But this doesn't fall under either definition. Rightly so, because this is a premium product made with soul and love. Of which deserves fair compensation for what you receive. Be also aware that you will attract looks of envy from those who've spent their hard earned money on overpriced/underperforming mass produced outdoor products from other popular "name brand" companies. But I guess if their goal is more for "status" than quality then so be it. More for us that recognize and need a well made product that can be considered a coveted heirloom for further generations.
I wore my Abisko anorak (over a double layer of Aclima doublewool and a Devold Nansen sweater) at -47 (plus wind-chill) in Alaska recently and was comfortable whilst walking and doing moderate exercise.
I haven't tried my new Kebne yet, as I'm back home, but first impressions suggest I'll be OK at rest in similar weather with this and the same layers.
The same size feels more snug (due to the insulation) but comfortably allows the same layers underneath, although I suspect it will need to be "seriously extreme" to ever need more than a single base layer.
Immaculate work as always and since my Abisko and Hamra pants remain like new after years of hard use, I expect this (and my second pair of Hamra pros) will become a family heirloom!
Cloak, hat and mitts as soon as I can persuade the bank manager into allowing me to order them!
