The hunting day was 35 degrees F, following 1" of snow this morning. I went out at about 1600 and sat for 30 minutes on the ground against a tree and called for coyotes. Instead of my buns getting cold, they felt warm! I was able to focus on watching for incoming coyotes vs. shivering. No moisture seeped through the material. I then moved about 15 minutes into the wind (10-15 MPH from the NNW). The temp was dropping below freezing. This location had a 5 gallon bucket. Again, the seat cushion kept my buns warm and this time, softened the hard plastic seat.
Whenever I find a piece of gear that works very well, I buy a spare - 2 is 1, and 1 is none. This piece of gear DEFINITELY merits a second (or third) purchase.
Prior to this I was using a rolled up piece of USGI sleeping pad. This bun warmer is much easier to bring with you, and is dead silent to deploy, whereas the sleeping pad was close to crumpling up newspaper.
This cushion is simply a brilliant piece of gear! If you sit outdoors (football bleachers, hunting stands) you would be foolish to not buy this product.
