I am very impressed with the Kirjas jacket. I bought an XL. I am in the US and am 5' 11" and about 220lbs with 44" chest and slightly long arms with broad shoulders. The XL fits excellently, particularly in my shoulders. I couldn't ask for a better fit even if it was custom tailored. The rest of the Jacket is appropriately loose for winter wear/layering, though I have worn it with a t-shirt in 30 degree (fahrenheit) weather and been comfortable. The sleeve length is just slightly long, perhaps .5", but that's how I like them. I might have been OK with a Large, though I would be concerned about room for layering and maintaining some freedom of movement.
I am completely satisfied (even delighted) with this Jacket, though, being human I can still suggest possible improvements. I added a leather zipper pull, as the standard tab is small if you are wearing gloves or mittens. The back and cover flaps for the zipper are generous, and though I haven't felt any wind leakage, I still feel some sort of snap(s) would be beneficial to hold down the outer flap in high winds.
With my long arms I find the hand warmer pockets just a bit higher up on my chest than is ideal. Similarly, I want those pockets to be just a bit larger for my large hands. I do use them, and they are cozy on my early morning dog walks this time of year (November/December in Upstate NY) but I need to make an almost fist to fit my hands in. The smaller size pockets may be intentional, as of course curling hands conserves even more body heat, but I still think another inch or 2 in the pocket would be great for me.
The overall length of the jacket is nice, it falls just past mid-hip. Be aware however that for me, the XL is long enough that when I bend over or sit, the bottom of the zipper pulls open/up a few inches. I am trying to get in the habit of opening the bottom before I get in the car (for example) so that I don't stress the zipper/stitching.
I have yet to use the hood. Thus far, the high turned up collar protects the neck and ears very well from the wind, but colder weather is coming!
I unreservedly recommend the Kirjas jacket for both style and function (as long as you like the color!)
Jacket arrived about a month after ordering (US). I usually order a large, but according to the measurements a medium should work (6'1"/160lb). I'm glad I ordered the medium. Fits great, not itchy, love the wool lined hand warming pockets, covers the behind and looks great. Cound'nt be happier. Can't wait for winter.
I picked up Kirjas Jacket yesterday. The quality is extraordinary, the workmanship is excellent. I am more then satisfied with jacket. I ordered a slightly bigger size because i like the more comfortable feel.
