I have had my Kebne for a couple of weeks and I love it.
It is late spring here and I was worried it was too late in the season to use it. I have been wearing it every day though.
On warm sunny days (up to ~18C) it feels warm but not sweaty or uncomfortable. On colder nights, sleeping in forest wind shelters at near freezing temperatures, it feels like a shelter in itself. It is tough: even though it is brand new I am confident to crash through bushes, carry wood, make camp fires. There is not a mark on it yet.
The cut is generous around me (75kg, 177cm, size medium.) This is great. In warm conditions I open the front and air circulates well. In cold I have space for plenty of layers and I know they are well protected by the wadmal.
The jacket is substantial. I have my pockets full of heavy things (sharpening puck, hobo stove, paracord ridgeline) and the jacket absorbs it all and distributes the weight without any poking or bouncing around.
I really like the distinctive and distinguished look. I feel it gives me permission to do eccentric things like sleep in local forest without looking like (feeling like) a hobo. That is true even if I pair it up with old rough army surplus type of clothes.
My favorite feature is the hand-warmer pockets. I was skeptical at first because they are high up. In practice that keeps them accessible and they are comfortable both for walking and also while sleeping.
Communication was excellent and the jacket was made and delivered within weeks. I am very glad to be a customer of Micklagård.
I've wanted this jacket for a long time. Last year I received the Anorak as a gift, and it was amazingly warm and versatile, but I really wanted something more convenient for donning/doffing than the pullover. This jacket did not disappoint.
It is fantastically warm, and yet I have been able to keep it on in indoor settings without overheating. The rayon lining cuts the wind in a way most wool garments don't, and it feels comfortable even without a base layer. The fit is perfect, with inner cuffs to snug the sleeves against the wrist and block out cold air.
I took it out on a walk the other day with a light sweatshirt underneath at -10 degrees F (-23 C) and -30 degrees windchill (-34 C) and my core and arms were perfectly warm. I could not even feel the wind through the jacket. With my old down and gortex coat, I would have needed a much more substantial baselayer to feel that comfortable. I took another walk this morning at -15 deg F ( -26 C) without even the sun to help out, and I had the same results. My legs were another story, but I have my eye on some Micklagaard pants for my next purchase!
You cannot go wrong with Micklagaard. I would recommend them to anyone. Well worth the price, especially if you care about supporting natural fiber clothing!
Alles perfekt!!!
Loving every detail of this jacket. Excellent craftsmanship. Feels like it will last a lifetime. Quality approved by my wife (master seamstress).
Very high quality, very finely detailed work, prompt delivery. Sizing is a bit off, at least for me...I've purchased both a jacket and anorak. Anorak does not have adequate room for use with sweater, for me, larger size of jacket purchase is very roomy like I like my coats but the sleeves are gargantuan in length. My wife, the master seamstress will be able to alter them but it will be complicated. All in all, a once in a lifetime purchase.
