Hunting Anorak

Arrived earlier than expected. Advise given via Chat-function on web-site was a great help in choosing the right size. Starting at the top, the hood is great if you wear it. It takes some sorting out how to fold it when you are not wearing it. Top pockets are the right size, i use them for storing valuables which will be safe there because of the zippers. Large frontpockets is oke, would have been nice if the cartridgestorage had been detachable. I do not carry ammunition with me and it is hard to find another use for it. The handwarmer pockets work very good. I do not know how but it feels as if they actively warm your hands. Only small complaint is the size of the pockets, i have medium sized hands but have to clench my fists in order to have my whole hand in the pockets. The only disappointment was the pocket on the back. I wanted this pocket because i have one in a wax-coat and i use it often. But the pocket on the anorak is half the size of the one on the wax-coat so i can not put in there what i normaly have in the wax-coat. It was my own fault, i just assumed it would be the same and did not look closely at the size. The anorak looks great and feels solid. I am not a taylor but everthing feels solid, well built and high quality. Almost windproof, even on a bike. I do not know about waterproof because i only wear the anorak in dry or drizzle conditions. I have worn it in -5 up to +10 celsius. I think that with the right base and midlayers -15 to +15 celsius will present no problems at all. I am very pleased with the anorak and the service from Micklagard. Thank you team Micklagard.

Speechless

An absolute work of art! This is beyond craftsmanship. The long wait for this anorak is so well worth it. I know I will be using it for many years to come. This the most thought out garment I have ever owned. I am a bow hunter, so comfort while drawing the bow is very important. I only got the anorak this morning, but have already had the chance to shoot for a couple of hours. It is so easy, nothing in the way, including the big collar. I was looking for a natural fabric that is silent and I found it. I'd like to blame my noise making as the major reason for failure on my stalks, now I'll have to find a different excuse for it (haha). This anorak is so warm and soft, I'm not sure I will require a heavy wool layer under this, like I'm used to with my other jackets, even in cold conditions. It allows for much more freedom of movement. It's close to freezing and it's been raining heavily all day and this anorak just doesn't get wet, or at least i dont feel it. I'm warm with just a base layer under it. Now, I have to say something about this hood, it is PERFECT, the design is so well thought through and it is so comfortable at any position. The sizing is bang on, so follow their advice. They know!
I am now convinced that I will also order the Harma pro pants. To say I am satisfied would be an understatement. I am exceptionally happy and would recommend this anorak to anyone especially if you are a hunter or just like being in nature. I promise that there is no buyer's remorse with this company.

To the team at Micklagaard thank you so much for an amazing piece and now also my favourite.

Why not earlier?

Only regret is why I didnt buy these garmets earlier? They work like you've always wished a modern garmet should work. You can wear it in 0 C and in minus 20 C and it feel almost the same.

Been using it during cold -20 C bird hunting in Swedish Lapland. Farewell to being cold. Since the wool still insulates while moist you can stay sharp out in the wild.

I also own the hamra basic pants and I look forward to explore nature and the capabilities further with these garmets.

A true "buy it for life" item.

I (193 cm, 89 kg male) got the XL Hunting Anorak. Well, originally, I got the L size, but then the Micklagaard folks kindly accepted my return and exchange after I realized that it didn't quite fit.

In general, this is an incredible quality garment for the price.

For the same price as some fancy Fjallraven gear -- ultimately just a petroleum product -- you get a handcrafted garment trimmed in reindeer leather that will last a lifetime.

I've tested it out in the cold, wind, rain, and snow in Estonia and it performed better than my normal winter overcoat that has a waterproof nylon shell and lot of synthetic insulation. The thing to remember is that while synthetic insulation loses its loft, and down insulation does poorly when wet, wadmal has none of those drawbacks. And it breathes better than both. And you can stand near a fire in winter without your garment exploding into flames. And it's easier to repair. And it holds up better under abrasion. And it looks nicer. And it's unique and not some shiny, techie thing that nobody will remember. And you can hand it over to the next generation.

As to the garment itself, it's a loose fit by European standards. However, you can use the built-in drawstring to to tighten it up around the waist.

The hood is ample, but well designed; the drawstrings allow for a "tunnel hood" to be fashioned at any time. Honestly, this is the best feature of the garment by far. It's well worth buying just for the hood.

I have already bought, along with the Anorak, the Varmullen Mittens and the Winter Hat. I'm more than satisfied with all of them.

I'll be purchasing the Blanket and Hamra Pro Pants once I get the funds.
